Amazon is an American multinational technology company with headquarters in Seattle, Washington. It has a focus on cloud computing, e-commerce, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. It is currently the largest internet company by revenue in the world. It is also the second largest private employer in the United States and one of the world's most valuable companies. The company has been referred to as one of the most influential economic and cultural forces in the world, as well as the world's most valuable brand. It is considered one of the Big Five companies in the U.S. information technology industry, along with Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Facebook. In 2015, Amazon surpassed Walmart to become the most valuable retailer in the United States.

Founded by Jeff Bezos in Bellevue, Washington, the company started out as an online marketplace for books but expanded to sell electronics, software, video games, apparel, furniture, toys and fresh produce. As measured by revenue and market capitalization, it is the world's largest online marketplace, live-streaming platform, AI assistant provider and cloud computing platform. Amazon is known for its disruption of well-established industries through technological innovation and mass scale. It also has a large publishing arm, Amazon Publishing, a film and television studio, Amazon Studios, and a cloud computing subsidiary, Amazon Web Services. In 2020, Jeff Bezos announced that its Amazon Prime delivery service, had surpassed 200 million subscribers worldwide.

Amazon Projects

At Amazon Projects, BrightWork is the driving engine behind its all-encompassing approach to Project Management. In just 4 years, its usage has grown to 400 different groups using BrightWork in territories such as North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. With more than 300,000 active users at Amazon, BrightWork helps provide a configurable, end-to-end project management solution, combining each users particular needs into a single platform. The solution encompasses a variety of Project Management processes such as project intake, time tracking, scheduling and reporting. For the white labeling of the BrightWork application for Amazon Projects, custom user interface components, iconography, walkthroughs and documentation would need to be designed and implemented to ensure a consistent cultural ethos was maintained for their brand. The Amazon way of Project Management is the groups driving philosophy, and helped inform many of the design decisions in relation to this challenge. Amazon prides itself on its unique culture. Their leadership principles aren't just inspirational wall hangings. Those principles work hard and Amazonians use them, every single day, whether they're discussing ideas for an upcoming project, planning the development of a new fulfillment center or deciding on the best solution for a customer's problem.
